Leslie Ezelle

Congratulations is in order for Leslie Ezelle!

Ezelle, 44, an interior designer and mom from Dallas, has been crowned the first HGTV Design Star All Stars champion. During Tuesday night’s finale, judges Vern Yip and Genevieve Gorder, alongside guest judges Carter Oosterhouse (Million Dollar Rooms) and David Bromstad (host of All Stars and season one winner of HGTV Design Star), delivered the news to Leslie that she’d won a $25,000 grand prize and a special appearance on an HGTV show.

“It’s a huge, huge, huge honor,” said Leslie, “This is life changing. I’m so excited for the future and I cannot wait to appear on an HGTV show!”

Throughout the competition, the designers faced unique challenges meant to keep them on their toes, such as updating sets inspired by beloved 1980s sitcom The Facts of Life. In addition to Leslie, a season six contestant on HGTV Design Star, the All Stars finalists included Fan Favorite winners Kellie Clements (season six) and Dan Vickery (season four), “Sparkle Josh” Johnson (season two), Tom Vecchione (season five) and Hilari Younger (season seven).

During the dramatic finale episode, Leslie, Hilari and Tom were tasked with transforming small repurposed shipping containers into chic, functional spaces. The finalists had to impress the judges by showcasing their design expertise as well as their on-camera finesse. In the end, Leslie’s creative use of the limited space, her cozy beach house-theme and solid on-camera performance set her apart from the competition.

In addition to HGTV’s Carter Oosterhouse, the first season of HGTV Design Star All stars featured a star-studded panel of guest judges including Emily Procter (CSI: Miami), Mindy Cohn (Facts of Life) and HGTV’s Monica Pedersen (HGTV Green Home 2012).
