Michael Phelps who became the most successful Olympian of all time at London 2012 Olympics has become the new face of Louis Vuitton after winning his 22nd Olympic career medal.
Michael will appear in the Core Values campaign for the French fashion house alongside former Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina.
Larisa previously held the title of most successful Olympian before Michael took it took the title. The photos for the campaign was taken by Annie Leibovitz and the pictures were released by Louis Vuiton today. (17.08.12).
The Olympian’s had a lot to say, “their very different backgrounds and their shared path to glory; their greatest moments and their abiding memories; their personal journeys – in the world of sport and beyond”.
They were chose because they share the same belief as Louis Vuitton – “the importance of transmitting their passion to others”.
The campaign’s tagline reads: “Two extraordinary journeys. Just one way to get there. Larisa Latynina and Michael Phelps. Gymnast and swimmer of legend.”
There is some brewha about the photos since Michael may have violated International Olympic Committee rules when provocative pictures for the campaign were leaked on the Internet during the London Games. However, Michael’s rep dismissed the idea.
